English for Sciences was initially a course that I was skeptical about, I thought it would be similar to my prior english courses where I have felt that I left the class without any major improvements. Throughout my time in this class I strongly believe that there have been improvements in my quality of writing and comprehension of articles. Prior to this course writing and reading were subjects that I avoided because they were not my preferences. Despite my disinterest in these topics, this course has taught me that these skills are essential components to master, especially in the field of sciences. In regards to reading articles this course has helped me break down intense articles to understand the message the author is attempting to send out to the reader. My writing has drastically improved in regards to organization and structure, I have learned the importance of organizing my ideas and main points to avoid my readers running into confusion while reading my writing. Comparing one of the first assignments in this course, the Rhetorical Analysis to the most recent assignment the Research paper I noticed that I improved in my organization and construction of my conclusion paragraphs. Not only have I progressed in my writing in this course but also in my lab reports from my Biology class. In the beginning of the semester I entered my Biology course with no prior knowledge of how to construct a proper lab report, but taking English for Sciences along with Biology has helped me in the lab section of the class. My lab report grades gradually progressed over the course of the semester and I am glad that I took this class because it established a foundation for me that I will benefit from not only in my undergraduate career, but my long term career as well.
